Ash Lawn Opera Summer Season in Full Swing!

ash lawn opera

Ash Lawn Opera is in the middle of an exciting 2008 season featuring two shows: the tragic and stormy tale of Bizet’s Carmen and the delightfully witty story of Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady. The Festival will also present two evenings of the world’s best loved music in its Music at Twilight Series.

All performances are sung in English in the Boxwood Gardens of Ash Lawn-Highland.  The best thing about Ash Lawn shows is you can picnic before everything starts.   If you already knew about Veritas Ash Lawn has a very classy, intimate atmosphere for your picnicking love.  It’s a great family and date destination.  If you are worried about what to bring, head over to Feast for your picnic basket. You won’t be disappointed.

Let us know if you’ve been!  Also, to let everyone know, this may be the last year for the summer series at Ash Lawn, so make sure you get there before they end the outdoor experience.

Upcoming Shows:

July 18 - Mozart & More, a night of arias, duets and ensembles from some of the world’s finest classical composers.

July 5th through August 9th - My Fair Lady

July 19th through August 10 - Carmen

Come One Come All

From our friend Lu Sid at Cvillain.com

Someone at the Space party referred to Cvillain as a really organized, really fun community bulletin board. To add to that warm fuzzy feeling:

Charlottesville Women’s Theatre is having auditions for their next production on Monday, June 2, 2008 from 7 to 10 p.m. at Bridge PAI in Belmont (www.thebridgepai.com). Check it out. It sounds like they would like everyone and anyone to audition (we are working on getting parlie to audition in a dress-they would have a GREAT turnout).

Charlottesville Women’s Theatre Project is holding auditions for it’s next production on Monday June 2nd from 7-10 at The Bridge PAI in Belmont www.thebridgepai.com. We will be doing a staged reading of “Bras and Beaters” - a play by a local woman playwright. We need women AND men for this project! Performances mid to late July. No preparation needed! Questions contact 434-984-2684 or cvillewomenstheatreproject@gmail.com

If any of you check this out let us know how it goes. And please, please, please let us know if any of you end up in it. We would love to come cheer you on (selfish note: it would give me something to do on Friday night).

Martin Short Comes to The Paramount

Martin Short makes an appearance at The Paramount tomorrow, March 20. We heard tickets are still available. You may remember him from Saturday Night Live or Father of the Bride. Here is a good interview I found with him:
