This is the sixth day in a row that it’s rained in Charlottesville.  We’ve had quick passing showers, slow drizzlers, and torrential downpours every day since the 4th.  I’m not really complaining because at least we’re not living in Seattle.  That said, I still wouldn’t mind seeing the sun for at least a day or two without interuption.

But since the rain is here and no amount of wishing for the sun is going to change that, we might as well celebrate it. So for this Mix Tape let’s leave the umbrella at home and instead of avoiding the rain drops, we thought we’d embrace them.  It’s songs about the rain people.  Let see and hear what you’ve got.  Just drop your selections in the comments section and don’t forget to send along a video URL so we can post them as we go.

I really like to add these mixes to pages of MUSE because it really gets a lot of great responses from readers and it allows folks to throw in a little bit of their own flavor to the MUSE stew.  So let’s kick off the week with another Mixtape!  I was checking out a really cool L.A.-based blog over the weekend and they had done a series of posts on songs about shoes.  I hadn’t given it much thought until I saw it, but there really are a lot of tunes relating to footwear.

It wasn’t that long ago that the weather folks were telling us that May was one of the chilliest on record. (For the record it was, at the very least, the coolest May since 1992.) Well things have changed in a hurry as temperatures are forecasted in the mid to upper 90’s through the weekend with heat indexes forecasted as high as 105.

So instead of avoiding the heat we’ve decided to greet it head on with another edition of our cvilleMUSE Mix Tape series. This, not counting our unfinished Poetry Mix, will be our third installment to date and will carry with it a sweltering theme. Hopefully you haven’t forgotten the guidelines. I’ll begin with a video after the jump and then you folks follow with songs to be added to the mix by submitting your additions in our comments section. First come, first serve. We’ll take the first 10 songs and remember to send along a video URL with your song choice.

So I got this crazy idea.  You guys may not like this at all.  Or you may really dig it.  In many ways cvilleMUSE is an experiment…an experiment in connectivity and expression on art and place.  So let’s see how well we connect the dots. 

I think we should make a mix tape.  The first cvilleMUSE mix tape.

Here’s how it works.  I’ll begin the mix tape with a song, which I’ll post in video form after the break.  Then it’s your job to chose Song #2.  First one in, gets the next song.  But here’s the catch.  You have to tell us why the song you chose should follow the song before it.  And we need a video for the song because it’s really the only way the casual reader can follow along.  Just add the URL to your comment so that I can embed it on the post.
