The concert announcements at the Charlottesville Pavilion just keep on coming as the Budweiser Concert Series will welcome former Credence Clearwater Revival frontman John Fogerty to town on Sunday, August 24.  Tickets go on sale Friday, June 27 at 10am.

And while I’m sure that this concert addition will probably draw a few comments in the vein of “more old people music” (and I can’t entirely disagree since it has been forty years since a much younger Fogerty was leading CCR into their soon-to-be rock n roll stardom), but I still have to honestly add that the guy has made a couple of pretty good solo albums in the last couple years.  (Deja Vu All Over Again in ‘04 and most recently Revival in ‘07, which also landed Fogerty on the cover of the 2007 Nov/Dec issue of No Depression Magazine )

Sure all of CCR’s hits were recorded before some of us were even born, but I’m not ashamed to say that I know the words to each and every one and I wouldn’t mind seeing some of those classic tunes live on a summer evening in Charlottesville with a beer in hand.
