The Charlottesville Music Showcase promises to make this Wednesday a “hump day” to remember with it’s 2nd Anniversary Get Down. The “musical mojo” will be working overtime and I might even suggest you knock off work a little early to be a part of it all. Just make sure you get some rest beforehand, because it’s going to a pretty full day of music.

I know that the Labor Day weekend is on the horizon and you’re already making plans for your big three day weekend, but if I were you I’d maybe try to sneak out of work a little early on Wednesday afternoon and head down to Rapture on the Downtown Mall to get a jumpstart on the weekend ahead. After all, it’s not everyday that you get a chance to be a part of music celebration that features thirteen local artists performing as part of an 11-hour concert extravaganza.
Beginning at 3pm on Wednesday afternoon (08/27) and continuing until 2am on Thursday morning, the Charlottesville Music Showcase will celebrate its two year anniversary by assembling some of the best musicians, deejays, and bands from the Charlottesville area into one festival-sized performance. As a matter of fact all of the musicians scheduled to perform have been featured at one time or another as part of the weekly free concert series that has prided itself on highlighting not only the talents but the wide diversity of the Charlottesville music scene.
The list of scheduled performers include BJ Pendleton and Tucker Rogers, John Pringle, Birdlips, Lolo Mullen, the Travis Elliot Band, Raw Dawg, DJ Duck Tape, Space Cadet 7, DJ Deep See, William Walter & Co., Sesshin, and the Kings of Belmont. The music marathon events concludes with The Showcase Mojo Jam.
As we mentioned things get underway at 3pm at Club R2 inside Rapture and their is no cover charge. That’s right, NO COVER CHARGE! Event organizers will be selling raffle tickets for special prize drawings and a portion of the proceeds from all raffle and merchandise sales will be donated to a number of local charities. We’ll see you guys there and don’t forget to bring your mojo with you.
[And hats off to the folks who’ve been at the heart of putting together 24 months worth of music events that have served to showcase Charlottesville’s music. Here’s hoping there are many more years to come!]

[…] It all begins before the sun goes down. Actually before some of you even get off work. At 3pm the Charlottesville Music Showcase celebrates its two-year anniversary with a special marathon show at R2 inside Rapture. 13 artists, 12 performances (all with ties to Charlottesville), 11 hours of music, spread out on two stages, and all under one roof. This one alone feels like a music festival in and of itself. The clincher: It’s free.
