Auditions: Live Arts

doubtparable.jpgLive Arts is gearing up for their upcoming season. Auditions for Doubt: A Parable (by John Patrick Shanley) their first play this coming fall, will take place on July 13 and 14. The cast members as described by the author are:

  • Sister Aloysius (fifties/sixties)
  • Father Flynn (late thirties)
  • Sister James (twenties)
  • Mrs. Muller (around thirty-eight)

When Doubt first premiered on Broadway, it received high critical acclaim, as well as recurring nominations for several prestigious awards. These nominations and wins included: the Pulitzer Prize for Drama (which it won in 2005), the Obie Awards (awarded to the playwright and Cherry Jones, the original Sister Aloysius), the New York Drama Critics’ Circle Award for Best Play (which it won), and Tony Awards (out of eight nominations, four were awarded: Best Play, Best Direction of a Play, and two acting Tony’s for Cherry Jones and Adrian Lenox [original Mrs. Muller]).

It promises to be a challenging play for all who choose to audition and volunteer, as Shanley explores moral ambiguity, truth, and consequences. The Live Arts production will be directed by Francine Smith.
