06/11: Song of the Day. Van Halen–Ice Cream Man
Well at long last our late spring heat wave has broken (I shouldn’t even remind everyone that it’s not even officially summer yet). And not a minute too soon either. I was just on the verge of going completely bonkers. I can stand the cold but the heat and the humidty you can keep.
Not having an air-conditioner meant that there was little I could do to get away from the near 100 degree temperatures and the heat indexes well over the century mark. My only comforts were the occassional cold shower, the early morning hours between six and nine a.m., and a couple scoops of vanilla chocolate chip ice cream. As they say “I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream”. They probably heard me screaming all the way in Crozet. Here’s one for the Ice Cream Man.

Ice Cream Man by Van Halen
Now that the heatwave has passed, how did everyone else out there beat the heat? Or were you like me and nearly beaten? And since we’re talking about the heat, the hottest I’ve ever been in my life is a tie between being in Austin, Texas in late July when the temperature was 118 degrees! and then two days later when I hit New Orleans, Louisiana when it was in the mid 90’s and the humidity was close to 100 percent. Now that I think about it, both make the last four days seem like early spring.
