As I reported some ten days ago and has just been officially confirmed this morning on the Charlottesville Pavilion’s website, Modest Mouse is indeed coming to Charlottesville!!
The show will be held on Sunday, June 29 at the Pavilion. Doors open at 6pm. Show starts at 7pm. In addition, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band is scheduled to open. I had the opportunity to see these guys a few years ago in Asheville, NC and they are nothing short of amazing!
Tickets go on sale this Friday, May 9 at 10am. This is going to be the first of many fantastic shows at the Pavilion this summer. Stay tuned! Trust me. Stay tuned!

I LOVE the dirty dozen brass band!
some of my favorite albums are the WSP/dirty dozen collaborations. this is awesome.
the dirty dozen alone are worth the price of admission. modest mouse puts this one way over the top!
is it just me or does that seem like a weird billing? Modest Mouse and DDBB?
i don’t get the connection. not saying i don’t like it, just kinda wondering where it came from….
Tom, I’m pretty sure the Dirty Dozen appeared on Modest Mouse’s “Good News for People Who Like Bad News” album. I’d have to double check that but I’m almost positive.
ahhh, nice - good call - says they played on “horn intro” and “devil’s workday”

Modest Mouse. What??? These guys aren’t senior citizens! What are they doing playing the AARP Pavillion?!?
I’ve seen DDBB at least a dozen (ha!) times over the years, both with other bands and alone. They’re fun on their own once…after that, it’s a glorified bar band act. I was at the last show they did with Panic (Vegas) and while the band was phenomenal that night (as good as a George show can be), I don’t think the DDBB guys were as precise as they were during the 1999 tour, when Night of Joy and Joyous Occasion were recorded.
Too bad Sexsions and Hair Doctors got raided…I’m pretty sure they’d be doing “in stores” in those places before the show.
By the way, the photo of them is old. Jamie McLean left and is doing his own thing.
@4. The two bands are also reportedly working on new EP together. So we might see the DDBB onstage with Modest Mouse for more than just a song.
