A couple of items of note worth checking out and now that the rain has finally stopped and the sun has returned, I’m sure we’re all feeling a little extra shot of energy this Wednesday.  So here you go…it’s Hump Day.  The first round’s on me.

  • The Gravity Lounge hosts The Wilders tonight at 7:30pm.  $10.  The Alternators open.  Here’s how Bluegrass Unlimited described the Wilders:

The Wilders have a deep and compelling, foottapping sense of rhythm…  whether it’s the oldtime or the honkytonkin’ spiritual. Come to think of it, the best label for them is-a oneband oldtime Opry show

  • Grand Buffet with GeT and Brian Moon at Twisted Branch Tea Bazaar.  8pm.  $5 [Experimental/Hip Hop] LATE ADD-ON.

    I shall definately try to check out Sesshin tonight. There are just not enough Jazz outlets in town that allow the bands to really play the way they want to (meaning, they don’t have to serve as background/dinner music), so its good to see some homegrown bands that have developed and ripened for a long time in a place that does.

    Sesshin will be killer. Word is they are going to cover a bunch of Medeski, Martin, and Wood tonight. James McLaughlin is a bad ass drummer.
