FIND ME HERE: April 14 - April 20

Attention Local Charlottesville artists!  In response to a question posed by one of our readers (who also happens to be a local musician) we here at the MUSE have decided to create a space where local artists from any field can post an annoucement about an upcoming show, exhibit, or performance that they’ve got coming up in the week ahead.

You Are Here

Every Monday morning, we’ll be posting a new FIND ME HERE article here on the site.  If you’ve got a stage show, art exhibit, or jazz performance coming up that particular week and you want others to know about it, post it in the comments section.  Just make sure you don’t forget to add the important details (when, where, what, who, and any other useful info conerning your event).

So without any further ado, where can we find you this week?

This is our trial run with the “Find Me Here” post. If the responses and feedback are good, we’ll keep doing it. And again, we really want this to be a space where local artists can promote their creative projects. So please, gallery owners, music promoters, etc. let’s leave this space open for the artists themselves. Thanks for reading.

Much appreciated! I’ll make sure to spread the word.

So here is my post: The Granville Mullings Project is playing at Enoteca on the downtown mall every Thursday from 8 to 11 p.m. It is free of charge and a full house ensures future performances.

As of now the project consists of Granville Mullings on Drums, David Cosper on Bass, Gerrit Roessler on Rhodes and Brett Jones on Guitar. They play Jazz Standards mostly and although they are considered more ambiance than concert by the venue, they try to explore the music as far as the setting alows. Come check them out and enjoy the enoteca atmosphere, which provides a very different Jazz (and dining) experience from Miller’s. The group minus the Guitar also is the body of Melamine (previously heard at Lance Brenner’s Sourround Sound ) and also the rhythm section behind Jenn Rhubright’s Jive Katze. Support the new Jazz blood in town! Thanks!

    ^ I’ve seen them before, they’re great.
And as much as I like Miller’s, it’s nice to have a chance to enjoy some jazz smoke-free once in a while.

This is the last weekend for anyone who wants to see “Mother Courage and Her Children” over at Live Arts. We’re sold out for Thursday (crazy? yes.) but there are still tickets for Friday and Saturday night’s shows and tonight (Wednesday) is pay-what-you-can for everyone looking to save some bucks. Tonight, Friday, and Saturday are all 8pm shows.

Hope some of you can make it out. And would love to hear what you have to say about it: good, bad, confused, processing, whatever. Feedback is great.

yep…i’m gonna be there…i’ve got a preview piece for the show going up over the weekend. Lasko and Pun are great. Robinella is amazing. And I’ve learned there’s a third act at the show…who too is fabulous…Thad Cockrell. Should be a great way to wrap up the weekend. Just a reminder though…we’d like to keep the comments in the “Find Me Here” posts to be used for artists to promote their own shows.

  8. […] in Charlottesville over the weekend and we’ve failed to mention your show, check out our FIND ME HERE post and let our readers know where we can find […]
