Here’s your rundown on this weekend’s happenings around town (and slightly beyond). We’ve got theater and tons of live music (including a taste of India!), but of course First things first…

- First Friday kicks off the weekend on Charlottesville’s downtown mall as a number of local galleries and restaurants open their doors to C’ville art lovers. Some spaces will be offering wine and snacks. (You can see more of Michael Fitts’ work, shown above, at C&O Gallery.)
- The Falsies are at R2 inside Rapture on Friday. If you forget your chicken suit, no worries, they’ve got one you can borrow. Maybe a pair of heels as well. J-Roddy Walston and the Business and Batter Recharger open. 9:30pm. $10.
- Horn Dawg, Rude Rock Family, and the Stabones open for the Pietasters Friday at Satellite. 8pm. $12.
- The Sometimes Favorites and Fools for Horses are at Outback Lodge Friday. Fools for Horses open. 9:30pm. $7-9. Thanks to Ray for the heads up!

- The Bridge/Progressive Arts Initiative hosts a benefit show for the Charlottesville Free Clinic Saturday at 8pm.
- Get your blues fix with the Eli Cook Band at Saxx Jazz and Blues Lounge. Saturday at 10pm. $5.
Holy Bear CrossingMake that Jim Waive! performs at Rapunzel’s in Lovingston. Saturday at 8pm. $5. Thanks for the update Sian!

Jonesin’ for some music from India? I know you are. Well you’re in luck! Classical Indian musician Pandit Vishwa Mohan Bhatt performs at UVA’s Gilmer Hall Sunday at 5pm. Free.

The Gravity Lounge has a full weekend of shows including Aoife O’ Donovan (Crooked Still) and Jesse Harper (Old School Freight Train) joining fiddler/songwriter Laura Cortese. 7pm on Sunday. $10.

Finally, Live Arts presents three performances of Mother Courage and her Children over the weekend. Friday, Saturday, and a Sunday matinee.
