For the Love of Devon Sproule

Devon SprouleIt appears as if the rest of the world continues to celebrate what we in Charlottesville already knew:  There is a ton of musical talent in our fair hamlet!  In April of 2007, local singer-songwriter Devon Sproule released her most recent album Keep Your Silver Shined to rave reviews.  Almost a year later those rave reviews just keep coming in.

The prominent pop culture website PopMatters just posted their own review of Devon’s Keep Your Silver Shined today.  Here’s  a snippet of what they had to say:

Appalachian folklore favors heroes who are wily, witty, and playful, and if possession of these qualities is any indication of authenticity, then Devon Sproule could easily be cast as having grown right out of the red clay Southern ground.

Having recently returned from a tour of Europe, Sproule is now on her way out west for a brief run of shows on the Left Coast before returning east in April.  However, her next scheduled show in Charlottesville isn’t until the end of May, but that should give us plenty of time to work on a proper homecoming.

I have seen Devon many times and she always takes my breath away. I’m not into folk or country either.
