Wow, I am very excited about this one. I’ve been leaking a few beans here and there to various friends, cVillains and the rest of them apples about cvilleMUSE.
All I can say is that we finally got here. Between design changes, website crashes, ad servers, writers and all that jazz, it’s been pretty wild. First off before I talk about anything, I want to thank Blue Ridge Internet Works and Darren Hoyt. Without the help of BRI and Darren, we couldn’t have launched our new sites. BRI mainly does our web hosting, but goes the extra mile to solve problems for us when we are clueless. Darren did almost all of the design work you see on the site. Darren is an amazing designer and we’re happy to have him do our site.
Now, what is cvilleMUSE?
cvilleMUSE represents to music, arts & entertainment what cVillain did to Charlottesville food, bars and gossip. We want to build cvilleMUSE with the same openness in mind that made cVillain so successful. We want to be the hub for Charlottesville arts where community members are invited to share their art, music, shows, etc. We want to empower you to help us learn, discuss and promote local arts. We aren’t in control, you are!
Why community?
We understand that a few journalists can’t cover all the arts in the area. There is so much going on out there and we need your help to cover it. We know that your opinions matter more than ours. We struggled with how we were going to get this thing off the ground. With cVillain being so rewarding, we didn’t know that we could even do it, given the number of hours in a day.
Along came Shaun
Shaun Harvey serendipitously met me about two weeks ago. I mentioned the cvilleMUSE idea to him and he quickly return with some great ideas. Shaun will introduce himself in the near future, but he will be the music guy. Shaun has A LOT of experience in music and totally understands how to grow and build a community. We look forward to Shaun spearheading this whole thing and hope you give him a nice warm welcome!
Others?
We are looking for people who have strong backgrounds in the arts to guide our readers on muse-related topics. Send any inquiries to cvillein@gmail.com . We’re just getting started, so be patient if we don’t get back to you right away. As usual, we will post reviews and other articles that you send our way!
Me?
You may know me as the one who was pink paintballed. I am a music and arts dummy. I need to learn. I’m going to be the voice of the normal guy who is slowly being pulled into the arts. I will be the learner. I love music. Last few bands in my playlist: Daft Punk, Vampire Weekend, MGMT, The Delays, Cut Copy. I need to explore locally, and I’ll try to do the best I can for you guys.
Now, happy musing. Let us know what you would like to see on the site!

this site is really, really, really, ridiculously good-looking. blue steel, almost.
nicely done, darren.
Very nice look. And although Parlie didn’t say it, he meant to: welcome to the internet!
it has a very slick feel to it
Very nice. And this music and theater nerd, for one, is very excited about this site.
Being a musician, poet, artist and glassblower, I am very excited to watch this site stretch it’s limbs and flourish. It looks beautiful.
Congratulation D/R on your nice new site. As someone who regularly confounds, baffles, and saddens the critics, I look forward to reviewing the reviewer. Watch out DP.
Brrr…I feel like I’m in a glacier with the light blue and white. It’ll be nice refreshing in the summer.
Looking forward to watching the site blossom.

At the McGuffy? If so I owe you some cd’s and you owe me some glasses…;)
I don’t have a studio at McGuffy, b yo. I am not the droid you are looking for.
Sorry. Its better that way. After I posted that I worried about “the Code” anyway. I used to do lampworking, and it is so fun!
/still would like some glasses.
@ 10 - Bob,
No one said a damn thing abouit the Code applying to this site. So I thinks it’s OK
Fred
Hey! If you switch between muse and villain fast enough its like getting pulled over.
b’yo - your name is Bob too? I thought it was DJ. Hmm.
May this site keep me posted on all that happens in Charlottesville= artwise! It’s more than one villain can possibly keep up with but staying on top of things here is a great idea! There is this surge locally for collecting the arts dollars from us all …if we only had more time, more dollars! But, I don’t want to miss anything…i mean, I want to say, yeah , I heard about that …missed it , but heard about it!
